I removed the pop-up stopper mechanism from my pedestal-style bathroom sink to clean the stopper and get out a huge clog. I tried to put it back together, but it seems like no matter how I do it, water comes out from the hole where the horizontal rod goes in. Am I doing it wrong? Do I need something in between the plastic ball and the nut (a washer, ring, etc.)? Is it possible I need a new stopper mechanism? Any help is appreciated!
