What is a trendy bedroom color that goes well with black furniture?
Author: admin // Category: Decorating & RemodelingLeah asked:
Have a new home and the master bedroom and bathroom are white. It has vaulted ceilings and it’s pretty big, but it’s too much white. What colors should I paint it? My downstairs is two tone tan color; very neutral. I have black furniture in the bedroom. I don’t want anything too contemporary… I’d prefer a soft, romantic look and am horrible with decorating. Thanks!
And should I paint the ceiling as well? It’s painted in my downstairs and looks nice.

Id say a tan or darker beige color with black furniture. Really you can do any color with black furniture. green, purple, just depends on how flashy you want to be.

If you are going for neutral I would go with a different two tone tan color than your downstairs maybe just a tad lighter. If your going for romantic I would go with a light blue it is romantic and looks great with black and white…hope this helps!

You’re using black furniture…
Okay, so basically because you’re using black, you’ll want to use a light, contrasting color to make the furniture pop and the rooms seem big. Black makes things look smaller (because less shadow and whatnot can be seen) and white makes them appear larger. Contrasting colors would be white-ish. You can also use a bright color, like cyan or whatever, but be careful with it, don’t want to make anyone seize!
As for the ceilings, whatever color you choose, lighten the paint with white to the best of your ability and paint with that color.

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the “painted” rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:
I think a green like “majolica green” (# 0013) would look stunning with the black + it’s very peaceful & soothing.
oh, and I like it when the ceiling is painted something other than white - whether it’s the same shade as the wall color or something to complement it.

My recommendation to you, would be to paint your walls a color called “Calico” it is a soothing light blue/green from Sherwin William’s. Dark teal accents will really make this room beautiful. For instance, a dark colored teal throw folded at the bottom of your bed, and teal panels for your window treatments, teal candles, a shelf painted teal. Also, buy a large piece of metal wall art, paint it teal and hang it above your bed. It will look so pretty. Just take a piece of teal fabric with you that you are using in your room (a throw for instance) to the paint store, so they can match it exactly to get the right shade of dark teal. I’d recommend a crisp white comforter cover for your bed. I hope your bedroom turns out to be the relaxing restful place you are searching for. Good luck. P.S. if you want to check out the paint color “Calico” for yourself, just go to the Sherwin William’s paint website and click on “Color Visualizer.” Calico is in the blue section.
